The number 21 appears throughout the design for a meaningful reason — it represents trisomy 21, the medical term for Down syndrome, in which a person has an extra copy of chromosome 21. Because of this significance, Jake Burger changed his uniform number to 21 when he joined the Rangers and, together with his family, founded the Burger Family Foundation in March 2025 to provide financial assistance, therapy support, and community resources for families of children with Down syndrome.
Since the first Down Syndrome Day was held at Globe Life Field in August 2025, the event has become an emotional annual tradition, bringing together Rangers fans to help spread a message of love and inclusion.
